Mural design for a pitch at Turnham Academy.

Ian Wright, in conjunction with the Football Foundation and EA Sports, has been a key player in the development of a new pitch at his old school, Turnham Acadamy in Brockley.

Artist Lionel Stanhope, known for his railway-inspired typographic murals was approached to paint a mural for the pitch, celebrating Ian’s connections with the school, as well as his Arsenal teammate David Rocastle (collectively known as Rocky & Wrighty).

The brief eventually grew to include the players, sponsor logos, and a quote from Ian, so Lionel got in touch and asked if I would like to support him with designing the mural, including illustrating the players, leaving him the task to paint the final design by hand!
